Despite the impossibility of organizing a physical tour, it would be regrettable not to maintain an event for this traditional celebration. This is why, we have chosen to invest in social networks and organize the 1st 100% online music festival in Palestine.
The INSULA project was born in 2016 at the initiative of Maher Beauroy, author, composer, performer and pianist from Martinique, Redha Benabdallah, French-Algerian oudist and musicologist, and Adriano Tenorio, Brazilian percussionist. This trio composed a work creating a bridge between Maghreb music and Caribbean jazz. INSULA refers to Martinique and Algeria. At the heart of their inspiration, a figure stands out, that of Frantz Fanon who has marked several generations of anti-colonial thought. Thanks to the support of the network of French Institutes and Alliances, INSULA was able to be presented to the 4 corners of the world.
The homage to Frantz FANON is at the heart of the project enriched with new musical compositions integrating voices, unpublished texts and instruments of traditional Caribbean culture. This project is about the balance between popular and learned music, between modern and traditional writing. What Frantz Fanon fought for: balance, equality between cultures and between peoples.
